Milestone
Description
I know this has come up a couple times before, but without a great resolution.
In logs, cups is regularly outputting a warning message:
Sep 05 15:12:46 pavonis cupsd[261739]: Printer drivers are deprecated and will stop working in a future version of CUPS. See https://github.com/OpenPrinting/cups/issues/103
That link then re-directs to OpenPrinting/cups-sharing#4 which states:
The goal of this issue is to have a place to discuss the eventual removal of printer driver support and support for raw queues in OpenPrinting CUPS v3.0.
That's not useful information to an end user trying to figure out what to do with their printer. We've seen at least a couple cases where that results in fear and confusion about whether their printer is going to be supported.
A deprecation warning messages should connect a user to something with clear, end-user-readable advice about what they need do.
