unable to install Linux GUI

I currently have to add the udps I want to use to a file and add/select the one I want in network settings. I presume the udp file list isn’t part of any automatic updates, nor will it tell you if any servers have been deprecated.

I found out by chance that you have a GUI like the one that comes with the Windows installation. I looked at the page on your website about the GUI for Linux but it doesn’t give many clues as to how to actually install it!

Looking elsewhere, I managed to find a Debian package nordvpn-gui_1.0.0_amd64.deb but it fails to install.
“the following packages have unmet dependencies: nordvpn-gui: Depends: libwebkit2gtk-4.0-37 but it is not installable”

I can’t find that package. It seems to be part of package libwebkit2gtk-4.0-37-2.48.1-2-deb12u1_amd64.deb but when I try to install it via terminal it says it can’t find it.

I'm running Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS.

Where do I find a compatible package for my distro, please?

Here you can find information how to install the GUI.
And here some information about the GUI usage.

To install the NordVPN GUI package run in terminal sh <(wget -qO - https://downloads.nordcdn.com/apps/linux/install.sh) -p nordvpn-gui.

The GUI app was verified with Ubuntu 24.04.2, but in case you still have issues please let us know.

How do you have NordVPN installed in the system? snap or deb?

Because the GUI package is just containing the GUI part, the scripts will automatically try to install NordVPN deb base package.

OK, so what you are telling me is that the error message I am getting is because there is an unhandled exception due to a conflict between the snap package and the Debian one, and if I have installed NordVPN via snap there is no GUI available?
Does this mean I have to uninstall NordVPN and reinstall it via a Debian package?
If that's the case, is the deb on the same release as the snap, and where do I get it?

Hi,

It is not possible to have snap and deb NordVPN application version installed in the same time. If you have snap and try to install deb you'll get the following error message:

NordVPN is already installed via Snap.
To install the app from a DEB package, first remove the Snap version.

The exception is handled and it is not allowing to install the deb, also is printing an error message. If it is not displayed for you let us know.

At the moment there is only deb package for GUI application, snap will come later this year. Also the GUI source code will be made public soon.
Until then, unfortunately in order to use the GUI application, snap package must be uninstalled and deb NordVPN + NordVPN GUI need to be installed instead. If snap package is uninstalled then the application settings will also be lost and any custom configuration needs to also be set for the deb version too.

Snap and deb packages for NordVPN application have the same release cycle, they are both released in the same time. To check the version nordvpn --version can be used.
