Feature Request: RPM-based Distribution Support

Currently, the two targeted systems are Ubuntu (Debian) and Arch Linux.
As a Fedora user a RPM Package, COPR repository, or even just a spec file would also be appreciated.

Ubuntu is supported because that's what I use, and I've no personal interest in learning other packaging formats. Arch is only supported because Arch users stepped up to provide it.

That said, there is an easy answer that should work -

alien --to-rpm /path/to/file.deb

This one liner converts a deb to an rpm. So why don't I do that? Simply because it means I have to test it and support it.

So I would recommend that to you - and if you're feeling generous you could test it out and let me know. I would be happy to host the RPM here if you give it the green light and you'll get a shout as a contributor.

@Nomen-Luni That's an understandable position.

Unfortunately, alien seems to introduce it's own line of issues in relation to KF5-KService & KF5-Filesystem.

Follow-up

I've been meaning to learn how to do native RPM packaging, so I might just try figuring that out later. I'll update here if I ever get a COPR repo set up.

If you look at the .deb here:

There's a folder /usr/share/
That is a mirror of the same folders on the target system, and contains the files to be copied into the target at the same place in the directory structure.

I guess this structure is different on Fedora - so probably the easiest thing to do is change those paths in the deb to match where these files need to go in fedora. One is the binary directory and one is the directory where service menu extension files go.

If you do that, Alien should run I guess.
