Google Cloud Nightscout unexpected costs

There have been two relatively recent changes to Google Cloud that can lead to unexpected costs.

1- Since the end of 2024, there has been a scanner in Brazil that sometimes scans enough to cause considerable outgoing traffic resulting in a monthly cost of about $0.50.

2- As of April of 2025, a newly created virtual machine is set with a daily snapshot schedule. Snapshots are not free.
