what's the keys file used for? (keys.json)

Hey, I'm wondering what this file is used for? I've looked through and can't find any usages across the code base.

Maybe I'm missing something?

I'm planning on source controlling a ton of my configuration files and was wondering if it's safe to source control this one.

After looking at it I realize that it's a key pair in plaintext, so it might not be that great of an idea but the question remains.
