cmake : not found error while trying to build PhysX/physx project using generate_project.sh script

When I am trying to build the folder PhysX/physx, the get the following error:

The log is given above. However, cmake is present on the path. I am not sure why this is happening. I am on Pop OS! 22.04 LTS x86_64. I am really grateful for the help you can provide.

a few steps to try to troubleshoot.

1)Have you tried seeing if cmake --version does anything?

2. have you checked to see if its picking up the right path for your installed cmake?
   Perhaps theres a conflict in installed paths

Also, try creating a verbose error log to see exactly what and where the problem is

cmake --version gives the following output:

loki@pop-os:~/Desktop/PhysX/physx$ cmake --version
cmake version 3.31.5

CMake suite maintained and supported by Kitware (kitware.com/cmake).

For some reason, which cmake gives no output.

However, I have this line added to my ~/.bashrc file

export PATH="$PATH:/usr/local/cuda-11.8/bin:~/Downloads/cmake-3.31.5-linux-x86_64/bin"

So, I am not sure why this is not working. I also don't have any other cmake installed in my pc.

How can I create a more verbose output? Thank you.

I found the solution. It was really silly to be honest. Looks like the letter ~ is not recognized by the shell(?). That is why it was unable to find the cmake directory.
