How the number of steps during training is calculate for ASR training

Hi,

Here is a training log,

Epoch 0:   9%|▉         | 1521/16428 [49:16<8:02:54,  1.94s/it, loss=564, v_num=it-8]

Here 16428 is the number of steps right? When I increase the batch size (e.g.: batch size 64 to 100) this number of steps should decrease. But this is not happening. When I increase batch size from 64 to 100 the number of steps increases.

Is it supposed to happen?
