LOOT executable to automatically lock, like build in LOOT, when GUI lock setting is off. #2277

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

Build in LOOT:

  • doesn't allow for rules/metadata editing - sorting needs manual adjustment every single time
  • has an automatic GUI lock, even when "lock GUI when running executable" is untoggled

LOOT exe:

  • allows for rules and prevents manual adjustment after every single sorting
  • doesn't lock though, like build in

So I either,

  • open settings
  • toggle GUI lock settings
  • close settings
  • open LOOT exe in the shortcut list
  • click sort
  • apply sort
  • close loot
  • open settings
  • untoggle gui lock
  • close settings

OR

  • click build in loot button
  • build in Loot sorts
  • I click close
  • move and adjust manually ESPs every single time and hope that it'll work, without all the rules I normally would add

I find both options tedious and frustrating. Especially when I have to sort often.

Making mods often requires a GUI lock untoggled. Like opening nifskope, OS, etc. Locking and unlocking can cause issues, as well with those applications. On top a toggled lock GUI it very tedious and ruins workflow. I had never issues with any application with a unlocked GUI, other than LOOT. Which is why build in LOOT has the automatic lock, which is very reasonable.

Describe the solution you'd like

  • a workaround of autolock the LOOT exe like build in LOOT

or

  • the option to start LOOT exe with the build in LOOT button

or

  • build in LOOT allows for rules/edit metadata

Describe alternatives you've considered

I have no other choice of either have to toggle the general GUI lock every single time. Or sort manually after using build in loot, which might question the "autosort" build in loot functionality. Handsorting. After years and years of modding, I refuse. I am tired. We have tools, I would like to use them.
