Documentation Issue

Hey,

In what looks like a reference table for WSL2 settings, I can read that dnsTunneling:

  • Is available since Windows 11 version 22H2 or higher, and
  • has a default value of true

In the Network considerations page, I can read the following:

On machines running Windows 11 22H2 and higher, setting dnsTunneling=true under [wsl2] in the .wslconfig file has WSL use a virtualization feature to answer DNS requests from within WSL, instead of requesting them over a networking packet.

I read this as, "this setting can be set and IS NOT activated by default".

I have two questions:

  1. Which is the default, true or false ? If true, then I suggest the Network considerations page to be amended
  2. How can one see the currently applied settings ? How would I know if DNS tunneling is enabled or not? The documentation section about the feature in /Network considerations/ is fairly sparse about how it should work. is A 2022 post on superuser tend to say we can't easily see what's applied.
