Can't launch on PC

Downloaded v5.3.0 several times. Each time installs without problem then I can't launch the app either from the shortcut or in Explorer. Is Windows 10 a problem? Grateful for any help as I'm excited to use it.

Chirpity will run on Windows 10. I'll assume you followed the installation instructions: https://chirpity.mattkirkland.co.uk/#installation

Did you try downloading / running the Portable version?

If your PC is very old, it may not be capable of running the application. What PC do you have (CPU model, RAM)?

Thanks for the speedy reply, Matt. I didn't see the warnings you describe in the installation note. Everything appeared to install normally. I tried downloading the portable version as well- exactly the same. These are the details of my PC from the settings:
Processor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-12100 3.30 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.78 GB usable)
Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 210 (973 MB), Intel(R) UHD Graphics 730 (128 MB)
System Type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Hmm, your machine is capable of running the application. There must be something about your PC / OS that prevents it from running. I am not sure why you did not see the "Windows protected your PC" message, you should definitely see that. I can't say what the problem is, but here's a few things to check:

1. If you try to add/remove programs, is Chirpity listed? If so, uninstall it and run the installer again
2. Anti-virus software blocks the app - check any antivirus logs / quarantine
3. Navigate to the chirpity installation folder, right-click on the exe file > Properties. If there's an option to "Unblock" click that button.
4. Open a terminal or cmd window in the installation folder, and try running the app from the console, for example:
   c:\Program Files\chirpity> .\chirpity.exe,
   and share what gets printed

Many thanks for that, Matt, and sorry to be a nuisance. I tried to run the app from the cmd window and got "This app can't run on your PC. To find a version for your PC check with the software publisher"! (Steps 1-3 didn't solve the issue.)
Unfortunately, my IT skills are not up to delving into this more. I'll see if I can get someone to look at the PC. Thanks a lot for your time. The app looks really great and I've heard it has had more success than the other obvious ones for my area (N. Thailand) John Moore

I think you are using a 32-bit version of Windows. If so, that's why it doesn't run. You can confirm this if you go to System > About and look for system type. I'd suggest you upgrade to 64-bit Windows if so.

I'm not sure I can provide any more help than point you to this google search result for the error on Reddit

The installer is fine, literally hundreds of people have downloaded for Windows, perhaps there is a corrupt system library on your machine as the post above suggests.
