MIC fail on all group multicast messages

I had group multicast messages working previously but currently running into issue now. Now sure where to start looking for the problem though. The Mcps_t in the mcps_indication object is showing MCPS_UNCONFIRMED and not MCPS_MULTICAST. Is that expected? I am using AWS IOT core for the server and I am currently using loramac-node through zephyr on a stm32wl chip. I have tried deleting and adding a new multicast group and hasn't changed anything.
