Good luck @Kludex . If you actually need contributors you can always create your own org and manage permissions from there as you already know. I'm also more than happy to lay a hand if you need. It seems that was a very productive conversation with @lovelydinosaur and hopefully a happy agreement. |

Hey @Kludex great thread! I'm part of the GitHub Stars so I'll forward this over the GitHub folks hopefully they will figure out the fork bug. Also kudos on the admin for the projects 😊 |

Good to see it, thanks as ever for your time @Kludex. 😎 (In a similar theme we're also working towards getting REST framework under new community leadership, with scope for opening up the sponsorship opportunities there.) |

Makes sense! It might be wise to create a dedicated org for the projects given their popularity, just to avoid future churn. |

Hi folks 👋
As some of you may have noticed, Uvicorn and Starlette are now under my personal handle (@Kludex), and since those projects have a lot of usage, I think it's fair to share a bit of context of why it happened.
If you are reading this issue, it is likely that you already know that I've been contributing to both projects for a long time already, and a lot of commits in recent years, and general maintenance was led by me.
Contributions to Uvicorn (24 months)
Contributions to Starlette (24 months)
What you probably don't know is that I've been unhappy about the sponsorship model, and more or less about lack of recognition. For those who don't know, the encode organization had Django REST Framework, Starlette, Uvicorn and HTTPX under its umbrella. Which didn't make it very clear to which project the funding was supposed to go, since there's no way to know that a specific project is the reason the sponsorship is happening. Just to give you a practical example: some months ago, I got an email from a sponsor saying "Hey, I sponsored you on GitHub, can you please add me to the sponsorship page?" - After some conversation, what they meant was that they were sponsoring encode, and they wanted their logo on the Django REST framework page.
After a lot of conversations with @lovelydinosaur, we came to an agreement that it was reasonable to move those projects to try to address the concerns mentioned above.
For those worried, this only changes the official administration of the projects. I'll not break your code. 😅
Feel free to ask any questions.
By the way, I had a fork of starlette, and then I deleted the fork to transfer the project - but for some reason I still see the fork status on the repository. It seems a bug from GitHub. If someone knows someone at GitHub, I'd appreciate it if they can solve this.
