This was a feature that was handy with the pre-Amazon Comixology app. When you reached the end of an issue, it would sometimes offer you more than one way to proceed to the next issue, if that issue was part of a story arc. So, as an example, you finish Batman Issue 587, which is the first issue of the Officer Down story arc and so it would offer you the option of carrying on in volume order to Batman 588 or to go to Robin 86, the next issue in the story. This is handy for arcs that jump across volumes (Batman and ASM are particular culprits of this with their many related parallel books).
This idea could be extended to Kavita with reading lists. If a given issue exists in any reading lists, offer to either continue to the next issue in the volume, or offer paths through to the next reading list issue. This could still be context aware of where the user entered from (volume or list) as Kavita currently is, and show that as the priority path.
Realistically, with the current state of CV story arcs, this may not be as useful right now (dependent on manual setup of good lists), but might be worth revisiting if people end up moving to other (better) sources of metadata that make it more likely that good story arc data exists.
Please find attached a bad mockup of what you used to see in Comixology - the shaded area would slide out instead of a further page turn.
