JabRef version

Latest development branch build (please note build date below)

Operating system

GNU / Linux

Details on version and operating system

Ubuntu 24.04, JabRef 6.0-alpha.27--2025-04-30--8ddb985 Linux 6.11.0-24-generic amd64 Java 24.0.1 JavaFX 24+29

Checked with the latest development build (copy version output from About dialog)

  • I made a backup of my libraries before testing the latest development version.
  • I have tested the latest development version and the problem persists

Steps to reproduce the behaviour

When activating full-text search in a large library (more than 17,000 elements: pdf, djvu, epub, fb2, etc.), the indexing process is interrupted at about 700 elements. Naturally, full-text search does not work completely.

For example, there is another library with 1,500 files, but indexing there is complete. Nevertheless, full-text search does not work correctly. Namely, such search commands within the library as =!, ==! (Case sensitive) do not lead to the correct result. In particular, when using the any ==! SEE command, we get many results such as SEE and including See.
