is there a way to set default window position? or have every window in monocle mode by default?

spawning windows is somewhat strange for me
the first window spawns in the center, ever window after that spawns top left corner
berryc smart_place does not seem to do anything
and the default size for some applications seems way off (see screenshot)

so is there a way to have the first window spawn left half and the second window on the right half
or even better, have monocle mode for every window by default?

adding berryc commands to the responding sxhkd keybings wont cut it because what if i dont use a keybind but rofi, demu or the terminal to start an application
