GSoC '25 Proposal: Refactoring & Reviving Tartiflette

Hello Everyone! My name is Smriti Rai, a CS undergrad and interest in DevOps. I wish to be a GSOC'25 contributor for IHR this year. I noticed in your project ideas that Tartiflette (the dish?!?) is out of production. After going through the repo, it's clear that the code needs major modularization (especially plot.py).

I can (not limited to:
Refactor and decouple the code base
Add testing suite for each unit of code
Establish CI/CD workflow (there's a dockerfile for mongo containerization but it looks incomplete)

Is that something the maintainers are interested in? I'd like for it to be my GSOC'25 idea if the org agrees

Hi, thanks for your interest, but this is currently not high on our list of priorities. Note also that to refactor this code you would need to have an understanding what this project actually does, which is described in this paper, and I do not think it is possible to write a good proposal in the time that is left.

Thanks for the clarification! I completely understand. I have already gone through the codebase and would certainly go through the paper too. I'd like to still submit the proposal I was working on and even if it’s not a 2025 GSoC idea, I’d love to contribute in the future.
