Intel RealSense D455 camera USB Type-C interface insufficient power supply current

The Intel RealSense D455 camera is connected to the robot dog, but the insufficient current from the USB Type-C interface causes unstable operation. Can we power the camera through the "external sensor sync connector" shown in the figure, ensuring a maximum current supply of 2 A?

Hi @a15981097537 The sync pins of the camera cannot be used to power it, unfortunately.

Insufficient power is not typically a problem that occurs with the USB-C cable interface of RealSense cameras, except on 'low-power' computing devices such as very small single-board computers. The issue may instead be that the USB port on the robot dog is not supplying stable power to the camera.

If you are not using the official 1 meter Type-C cable supplied with the camera and are using a cable of your own choice, it is important that it is a high quality one designed for data transfer and not an inexpensive cable meant only for charging up devices.

You could also try disabling the IR emitter of the camera to see if the reduced power draw improves stability, which would help to confirm whether it is a power related issue if stability does improve with the emitter off.

It might not necessarily be a power related issue though. The instability could arise from the USB controller that the ports on the dog use. Some controllers work with RealSense better than others. A way to test this would be to attach a 'passive' (unpowered) USB hub to the dog's USB port and attach the camera to the hub, as a USB hub uses its own separate USB controller for its ports.
