Summary
I’m a game artist and would love Graphite to add a few productivity features that would make it a serious alternative to Krita/Unity for asset creation.
I also really miss some of the old Flash conveniences — it was fast for drawing, filling, and animating assets.
1️⃣ Wrap-Around / Seamless Canvas Mode
What: A toggle to make the canvas tile in X/Y so you can paint/draw seamless textures.
Why: Krita’s and old Flash’s wrap mode are fantastic for creating repeating backgrounds, terrain, and game textures. It would be great to have this in a vector/hybrid app.
Details:
W
).2️⃣ Bezier Curves + Image Fill (Tileable)
3️⃣ Sprite-Shape-Style Splines (Unity-Like)
What: Spline/path system that swaps sprites along the curve (straight, corner, end caps, etc.).
Why: Let artists quickly draw platforms, fences, roads, rivers — like Unity’s SpriteShape but directly in the art tool.
Features:
4️⃣ Pattern Along Path
5️⃣ Game-Dev Export Friendly
Impact
These tools would save a huge amount of time for game artists creating side-scroller and top-down assets.
They combine seamless painting (Krita) with spline/platform workflows (Unity/Flash) — directly inside Graphite.
