In our wiki, we currently make updates transparent to our users like this:

Needless to say, this is very far from optimal.

Why is this important?

• It shows editors that their edit has become active and wasn't lost (don't laugh, this is something people frequently ask about)
• It tells users if a page is at risk of containing outdated information
