We do have an integration platform that allows you to build apps and workflows into the way you're already working. You should be able to combine some APIs with GitSync to transform the syntax for you.

That being said, we're also working on more ways for you to customize the way you render content in GitHub, which also might help. More on that coming from us soon!

It's not possible to create integrations to extend this type of syntax. But this is something we should support in our core markdown parser.
We currently use https://github.com/remarkjs/remark, but it doesn't look like it supports this syntax yet. We'll see if we can prioritize work to support it.

It would be really cool because sometimes you have to store documentation both in Git and GitBook, and alerts are a very useful feature for highlighting text, so I wouldn’t want to deal with two different markup formats.

Hi @devrdn - unfortunately there hasn’t been any movement on this feature request, but I’ve moved this to our feature requests section where we can see if this feature would be useful to more of the GitBook community! If we do end up working on this, we’ll update you here.
