What's your feature/idea?
For basic paragraph text, the options menu only allows you to convert the paragraph to a heading or to delete it.
I would also like to be able to expand that list so that I can convert an existing paragraph to:
What's your desired outcome?
I want to be able to convert existing text to an item such as a list or a code sample instead of having to start with a blank paragraph, select the block type, and then add the text.
What's the impact of this for you?
Anything else?
I mostly use GitBook as a markup tool and not a writing platform. I plan and write the content for new and updated features in external specs, and I create the GitBook CRs when the associated development project is close to release.
So in most cases I am formatting text that I pasted in from the spec. I am not typing from scratch into GitBook.
Because of this, it's cumbersome to not be able to create things such as lists from existing text. I have to add a blank paragraph in front of the text, start the list, then backspace from the existing text to make it a list item.
