Is there a way to align the first messages in a channel to the bottom?

Hello, I'm wondering if there is a way to configure things so that the first messages in a channel align to the end, right on top of the message input. They look strange to me hovering around the middle-end with significant space below. See screenshots:

Once there are enough messages to 'fill' the page, they do align where I would expect. Thanks!!
