Today, Publii can be used with simple newsletter collector forms via Mailchimp and others.
My suggestion for a mail and/or newsletter plugin would basically be an extension of the current theme option as a plugin, where you could specify the form configuration (form action url) and formatting as well as configs for API or webhooks. This would enable a simple connection to listmonk, emailit, emailoctopus and dozens of others.
