Confusion regarding installation #123
-
Hi, I am just a bit confused. I was rearranging installed Components in the "Choose Optional Components" dialog and noticed that "Copilot4Eclipse" was in the "Not Selected" tree (although I have been using Copilot4Eclipse for a long time with a free Github license). So I decided to install it. After restart Copilot4Eclipse was still present (but with some additional menu items) but now required a Corporate License to work. I then uninstalled it, and now it works again with my free license. So a bit confused - according to documentation "Copilot4Eclipse" (Genuitec) should work also with a free license? |

Hi there, based on your description, I'm guessing you're talking about using Copilot4Eclipse inside MyEclipse. If you install Copilot4Eclipse from the component dialog inside MyEclipse, you get our corporate license by default. You can have only one instance installed at time and I'm guessing that what you've landed up with now is the public version. The public version is currently a bit more recent than the version in the latest MyEclipse release (2025.1.2 contains version 1.6, public release is now at 1.7). We're currently working on releasing a MyEclipse update shortly which should have a more recent integration inbuilt. |

If you install Copilot4Eclipse from the component dialog inside MyEclipse, you get our corporate license by default.
If you install Copilot4Eclipse from the public marketplace you get our public license where you must choose the license.
You are free to use either version.
