Can GSConnect work as a simple dialer / "keypad"?

I want to stitch together a setup with a clipboard manager so that I can highlight a phone number on my PC and somehow have my phone dial this number, preferably without picking it up to confirm. I have a nice speakerphone connected by BT, so I don't need my PC handle anything else, just the dialing.
I had this working with a Nokia and an IR-dongle in about 1997, but have only had a kludgy "web based" solution using tel:xx.. since then.
I have not been able to tell conclusively from the documentation how GSConnect would work in this scenario so maybe somebody here could offer me some advice before I dive in and start tinkering?
Is it possible?
What would be the best way to do it?

GSConnect already works as a tel: link handler, but you do need to confirm on the phone itself. Can't think of a way to get around that.

I don't think google would allow getting around that, for non-system apps. They've increasingly locked that stuff down over the years, so even if it was possible before I doubt it is any longer. Even when apps have "insert this number into the dialer" permission, you still have to press Send. I'm sure they'd get in hot water the first time some app wardialed 9-1-1, otherwise.

The only exception I can think of offhand is maybe a Bluetooth connection -- I believe paired Bluetooth devices with the correct feature set to dial numbers are permitted to do so (when that option is enabled in the phone's settings for the paired device) without confirmation, since it's sort of the whole point of Bluetooth that you're exporting phone controls from the device itself to an external interface.

I have looked into using Bluetooth before based on a similar reasoning, but not found anything reasonable.
Taking a new look now I find that something called HIDClient used to exist, but not anymore it seems.
It also struck me that if I have to use tel: anyway, I could probably make something much nicer than what I currently have, using push notifications and a service-worker, but that's another project I don't really need :-)
Looks like the simplest way forward would be to try out GSConnect and live with the confirm prompt.
I might event find a use for some of the other features :-)

I can say that, if you play media on your computer, the MPRIS media control is pretty great. It's like having a remote control for every media player on your system.

hidclient still seems to be obtainable at https://github.com/benizi/hidclient but I don't think it's what you'd want anyway. It fakes input devices (bluetooth keyboard, bluetooth mouse), which still wouldn't have permission to dial phone numbers.

What you'd want is to convince the phone you're a device implementing one of the Bluetooth profiles involved in voice communications, like the Call Control Profile, the Hands-Free Profile, or maybe the Headset Profile. Ooh, or maybe the Telephone Bearer Service 1.0 profile:

This service exposes a telephone call control interface and telephone call control status for bearers on devices that can make and receive phone calls.
