[Bug]: SimpleEncoder h264 output not playable

Describe the bug
SimpleEncoder.exe produces .h264 file that is not playable on VLC and cannot be analyzed on several h264-analyzer software. AV1 and H265 outputs do work and .h264 files generated by NVIDIA.

To Reproduce

1. Run SimpleEncoder.exe
2. Play output.h264 with VLC
3. See black screen

Setup
I am using DX9 and AMD Radeon 8060S with 25.10.25.10-250825a-418637C-AMD-Software-Adrenalin-Edition 32.0.21025.10016 driver version.

Expected behavior
H264-file should be playable with VLC and analyzable with video analyzers.

The default value of AMF_VIDEO_ENCODER_INSERT_AUD in the doc and header is false. However, internally it is currently defaulting to true.

Setting this per-submission property instead to false prevents AUD NAL units from being generated in the output and allows the output to be played by VLC media player.

We are evaluating the options of either updating the default value of this property to false or updating the documentation and adding a note for the possible interactions with the default value such as in this case.

Thanks for quick reply. I tried SimpleEncoder with AMF_VIDEO_ENCODER_INSERT_AUD false and true both. Looking at the output files hex editor; the header at least has changed, but VLC still does not either of the files. Any other ideas what could be the problem?

Could you please share the output files and the version of VLC media player that you are using?

I checked again with fresh VLC install. With AUD set to false the video worked. It seems setting demuxer to H264 on VLC broke it, but with demuxer set to automatic it worked. Thanks for your help.

It has been decided that AMF_VIDEO_ENCODER_INSERT_AUD will default to false going forward. The change has been submitted and will be available in a future release.
