Yeah I know this is for issues but I'll be using this particular issue as my progress report uh, blog, thing.

Anyway, this report uh thing starts between v1.0.0 soon to go to v1.0.1.

Couple of things happened since v1.0.0

• Fixed readme
• Fixed the mess that was the manpage
• Revamped the installation script (some things still undone but yeah)
• Bug fixes
• More bug fixes
• Me playing some random capycabra game idk

Things I'm currently working on

• Metadata recollection since songs are missing that rn
• More possible flags for the CLI version
• More bug fixes (my totally favorite part of programming 🙃)
• Getting albums
• Getting Liked songs (I personally use this one as a mega playlist)

Haven't tested the app on other OS yet, so, probably more bugs there. Scripts won't work for windows for sure, that will need a whole new

Update v1.0.1

Couple of things I fixed

• Fixed bug where you got stuck on login
• Music now has proper metadata
• Fixed bug where yt-dlp retrieved the wrong video
• Improved documentation
• Cleaned Code a little
• Fixed mayor issues with install script
• Better guards when user cancelled the program
• Spotituby can now retrieve all songs as a playlist
• Get albums (not utilized in the CLI yet)
• Fixed bug where playlists were not fully retrieved, now you can retrieve all songs from the playlist
• Other minor bug fixes

There's still a lot of work to do. I have to finish some hw projects from college rn so once I get those done I'll work on any bugs found.

Ideas for future Update

I've been thinking a lot about the server mode, and I'm not sure if its worth it to finish it. For one, it doesn't seem to add much traction for other devs, meaning not many peeps will use that. So, if nobody will require that, I'll just remove it. The whole point of that is you could run a local server, and use it as an api. But that's not really useful, peeps like convenience, an API probably won't provide that convenience.

So instead I've been thinking in implementing a sync feature.

• A daemon is ran on the background of a computer
• Daemon tracks if desired folder has desired playlists. If not download said music and put it into playlists
• If music is added into desired folder add it to spotify liked songs.
• If its on a playlist update said playlist. If a new playlist is made add that playlist to spotify.

Basically, whatever you have on spotify you will have it on your local computer.

Another idea I've been thinking about is to extend this into an extension to the actual app using something like Spicetify. That way its more convenient for non-tech-savy people. To test this, if my grandpa who can barely turn on a computer without thinking its sorcery can use it, then its good enough.

Another issue I've been seeing is that when running the app from the package you have to navigate to the node_modules and run node from there. I'm not sure how can I fix that, since I want to be able to just run spotituby --mode cli once I install the package and call it a day. Anyone knows how?
