@snowpack/app-template-react: HMR setup code necessary?

From the docs, I got the impression that this is how you manually set up HMR. Is this code necessary if @snowpack/plugin-react-refresh is used?

Great question, I think regardless we could improve the docs to answer this question for you.

• plugin-react-refresh will wire each fil containing a React component to receive and self-update on any HMR events. If a React component changes, that plugin has added to code to handle it via HMR.
• That snippet, separately, marks the root of your app (src/index.js) as a file that accepts any bubbled up HMR events. So if any non-react file is changed, it wouldn't be handled in the file itself, and that event would bubble up to src/index.js.
