I understand that idle animations are currently not present, but they could be fun for outposts, to allow a bit more variety and life. I can see that they would probably be extremely difficult to implement, if the current method for AI is not structured around expansions like this, but I think this would be the next logical step for adding to the AI, apart from navigation outside of structures/ships.
Other game engines (notably the Creation Kit/ GECK from Bethesda), allow these configurable nodes that users may place and denote which characters, or even which factions/jobs may use the animation. For Barotrauma, I believe simple animations like sitting in chairs, lying in beds, smoking pipes, repairing objects, or carrying crates would be extremely beneficial to the overall atmosphere of stations, or even subs. At present, playing in singleplayer does make you feel less like you are on a ship with crew, and more like you are on a ship alone, while commanding simple machines to do simple tasks.
