Rails Engine using Vite in host App not Using Vite

Is this possible even?

My host app uses shakapacker, I would like my engine to use Vite, and to have completely separate build process for the front end. I'm getting syntax errors when trying to navigate to a view that's in my engine

undefined local variable or method vite_client_tag

Not sure how to have the host app only pick up the compiled assets from the engine
