ee cli update fails

Hi
I am trying to update from 4.1.5 to the current 4.4.1.

The process commences but fails after about 1 minutes with:
Encountered error while processing ee-docker-image-migrations in EE\Migration\Containers::start_container_migration. Exception: Unable to migrate sites to newer version
The downloaded PHAR is broken,

Any suggestions? TIA
