Fast Multipole Method Support

Some of the slides and videos of Cabana mention Fast Multipole Method (FMM). I am wondering of there is any app using/considering to use FMM? Does any plan for the future to include FMM support?

I'm not aware of anyone directly implementing FMM with Cabana, but there's a number of similar implementations for vortex/interface methods which require hybrid particle-grid and FFTs (https://github.com/CUP-ECS/beatnik/ and another I can point to when the paper is finished). In terms of direct Cabana support, that seems reasonable since it's essentially infrastructure to build your physics

It also seems potentially in the far future. I am looking forward to the paper.

Hi @kursatyurt, I am a developer of Beatnik, which @streeve referenced, and I am currently implementing the FMM using hierarchal Cabana::Grid sparse meshes for research in optimizing its communication patterns.
