DNSCrypt-Proxy Won't Start Post Upgrade

Downloaded the latest version of DNSCrypt-Proxy (v2.1.12) to my machine, migrated all of my configurations to the new toml file, and copied the executable and toml file to the install folder on my macbook air (MacOS 15.5)

Install folder: /Applications/dnscrypt-proxy/

When trying to start the service after copying the executable and config file to install folder, the following error is given:

user@mac dnscrypt-proxy % sudo ./dnscrypt-proxy -service start

[2025-06-05 08:20:00] [FATAL] Failed to start DNSCrypt client proxy: "launchctl" failed with stderr: Load failed: 5: Input/output error
Try running `launchctl bootstrap` as root for richer errors.

I can find a similar discussion here but it's not completely the same: #2557

Trying to use that config file prints:

[FATAL] toml: line 395 (last key "log_files_max_size"): Key 'log_files_max_size' has already been defined.

The log file rotation parameters are defined twice.
