Add Newsroom MOS Protocol Integration for Rundown Publishing

Currently, QPrompt cannot integrate with newsroom computer systems, which limits its use in professional broadcast environments. Many TV and radio stations rely on newsroom systems like Octopus, ENPS, or Ross Inception that use the MOS protocol for rundown publishing and automation.

Describe the solution you'd prefer

Add MOS protocol support in QPrompt, allowing users to connect to major newsroom systems (e.g., Octopus, ENPS, Ross Inception) and publish or manage rundowns and scripts directly from their newsroom workflow. This would allow QPrompt to fit seamlessly into established broadcast production pipelines.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Manually exporting/importing scripts between QPrompt and newsroom systems, but this is inefficient, error-prone, and lacks real-time sync.

Provide use examples

• A newsroom producer publishes a rundown from ENPS, which is instantly available in QPrompt for the presenter.
• QPrompt automatically updates its script as the newsroom rundown changes during a live show.
• Rundown metadata, story blocks, and timings are preserved and synchronized between QPrompt and the newsroom system.

Thank you for taking your time to file this report. I've been aware of the need for MOS for a while. This is a complex task that needs to be broken down into multiple tickets in order to be addressed.

Since the project's inception I've focused on attending the needs for its existing users, which are, for the most part, event teleprompter operators and DIY content creators. That said, I would like to expand into tablet teleprompters and make the app more suitable for newsrooms. Even if it's never able to compete with the most expensive software, I don't mind giving them a little competition. After all, nothing is stopping them from contributing to QPrompt and selling an open source app instead.

If you or someone else could help break down this ticket into the various requirements needed to add MOS support, I'd be very grateful. The user who made the initial suggestion once said that in order for QPrompt's MOS support to be useful profiles 0 through 7 would have to be implemented.

This ticket is a duplicate of issue #30, dating Jan 8, 2022. I'm closing the original and leaving this one open because it has a much better description.

@sfahadshahzad If you're interested in this, don't wait for somebody else to start working on it. Help me break down what needs to be done to add MOS support.

I have other feature requests and issues in QPrompt that need taking care of, and I find the effort required to implement a communication protocol like MOS to be incredibly boring. I would do this with help from the community but not alone, unless monetary compensation is involved; enough to pay for all the work, or doing it as part of a premium version of QPrompt designed for use in television studios. It's potential ROI would acts as a motivator.

I have little interest in such a version, since I'd rather move-on to other projects. Therefore, the best way to get MOS support added to QPrompt is for the community to get involved in planning and development for it.
