Any way to prevent Timeouts with VPN?

Installed this program 2 days ago but always get this error:

In the log it says "Http.Timeout" and it occurs often enough for me to rarely download videos. that being said it did work very well for like two episodes, where i needed to pause the downloads. After trying to resume it it failed at Audio Decryption again because of the Timeout... (though that time there was a response of 40016: bad token, prob because of the 4-8h pause inbetween)

If that matters i enabled the New download method, but the rest is almost always at standard settings.

so you paused the video download somewhere in the middle and then tried to resume it after a couple of hours? Did the remaining downloads work, or did the retry succeed?

Sorry if my original message was confusing — I wrote it pretty late and didn’t explain things very clearly. Here’s a clearer breakdown of my problem.

I installed this program two days ago, but I’m consistently running into errors that prevent me from downloading videos.
Main error:

What works / what doesn’t:

• At first, it worked fine for about two episodes.
• The issues started after I paused downloads in the middle and then tried to resume them a few hours later (4–8h).
• The resumed download appeared to finish, but then it failed at the audio decryption stage with "40016: bad token"
• Retrying did not succeed — the problem happened again.

Settings:

• I have “New download method” enabled, though disabling it did not solve the issue
• I use Proton Premium VPN
• mp4decrypt
• All other settings are at default.

Question:
Why am I getting so many Http.Timeout errors, and why do resumed downloads fail at audio decryption even though the download itself finishes? Is there a way to fix or work around this so I can reliably download videos?

But did you actually restart the downloader since then? I’ve never paused a video midway for that long, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it fails, since I would have to keep the video session alive. I’d recommend not doing that — maybe just disable auto-download, let the current ones finish, and keep the rest in the queue. Still, I never designed or tested it for 24/7 downloading, whether running or idling.

As for the frequent HTTP timeouts, it’s either because of the pause (if you haven’t tried again since then) or due to your connection

That would be my connection then, never paused a download that long again. Is there a problem with Germany or Proton VPN and Crunchyroll? The Website works just fine for me...

i don’t have Proton VPN, so I’m not sure if that’s the issue. you could try without the VPN to see if it works better

Hi, quick follow-up — I wanted to ask if this is related to my earlier problem.

Basically, I added the series to the download queue and it started fine: video downloaded, then it moved on to decrypting. But at the audio decryption stage it sat there for about 2–8 minutes and then failed with the “couldn’t get playback data” error

Is this the same issue or something different? And do you have any suggestions on how to avoid the playback data failure after a file has already fully downloaded?
