Other Commonly used Optomechanics

Hi, Thanks for such a great work and effort in building this addon. Its an amazing tool and am sure many people from optics community will benefit from it. I am new to this module and just wanted to check if there are any plans to implement other commonly used optomechanics such Mirror holders, lens holder, iris, post holder, pedestals, clamps. Thanks.

no, I don't have any specific plans, at least not in terms of detailed models. Lens mounts like are available from Thorlabs etc. can be downloaded from there in a step format and converted to be used in Blender. Their geometry is usually also quite specific, so generating in a functional way, as is a point of OptiCore, doesn't make so much sense as far as I see it.

Of course, if someone posts a specific request, with some explanation of a parametric design where this makes sense, then I would consider adding that.

An example of what I last did implement (but again no specifiicx further plans at the moment) is the "lens housing" option that now exists on the import-from-zemax function. However, this is just a simple, functional baffle for quick rendering, and not intended as a proper mechanical model.

Thanks for your reply. Actually, since I was pretty knew to blender, I didnt know that I could import cad files from thorlabs. I tried to download step file from thorlabs, converted to stl and imported in blender. I am able to import almost all the designs from thorlabs/newport in this way. Great help. Thank you.
