Why have topic2TableMap if topic and table names must match?

very weird logical contradiction, can you explain why this setting exists? and why is it that topic and table names must match? it is very limiting. what if i want to read from multiple topics into the same table? from docs: topics or topics.regex: the Kafka topics to poll - topic names must match table names (required)
