Connecting to the host computer

Why is the companion VM or another machine required? Will this requirement be removed in the future? It's not a big deal, just a minor inconvenience, but I'm just curious

I was wondering the technical reason as to why, and again I'm really just asking out of curiosity, not trying to complain or anything. It seems weird to me that you can connect to another machine through TCP, is this because of localhost not working or something?

TCP has nothing to do with that, you could use avian carriers to transfer the packets between the iOS VM and the companion if you would like to.

I'm not implying that you're complaining about anything, I'm just trying to say that no one should belittle himself and that learning makes us human. If you set a goal upon achieving something, you'll most likely do so eventually. Don't let anybody stop you from giving anything a try. Don't be German/Austrian, even failure can be a success in science. :-P

The reason, at least under Linux, is that usbredir and usbip are not that easy to work with, as it seems like you can't 1:1 transfer/port the used code to them, as they appear to follow another concept.

And under macOS it's additionally some entitlements crap.
