How do I update search after a big version jump?

Was previously running the stack theme from Oct 5, 2021, but updated to the current code today. Am also now running hugo v0.147.3 (last used hugo about a year ago).

When I run hugo now, I'm told:
WARN found no layout file for "json" for layout "search" for kind "page": You should create a template file which matches Hugo Layouts Lookup Rules for this combination.

Hugo runs the site properly from what I can tell, except for search. The search page loads, but doesn't display the 'type something...' field to actually search. There's no other information to help me narrow down what's causing the error, so I'd appreciate any suggestions that you might have. Thanks!

This error doesn't appear on hugo v. 144.2
