Mission statement + scope (with objectives)

We need to specify the Ambassadors Project scope and objectives with the overall mission to reduce the dreaded scope creep.

Ideas

• Mission Statement (so far): To learn and disseminate reproducibility practices at the group level.
• Anything else?

Date Needed

Can one or two people assign themselves to this task? We just need a basic draft and we will discuss as a group at the next Reproducibility Working Group Meeting.

• To learn and disseminate reproducibility practices at the level of research labs.
• We do this by going in to labs and learning about the computational tools being used for research, any bottlenecks, and novel solutions to common problems.
• Each of our lab liaisons (better word perhaps? I'm avoiding ambassador or expert) is well-versed in a subset of the tools used for reproducible research, but is aware of many more of these tools than they themselves use. They suggest strategies to solve bottlenecks and learn new strategies along the way.
• Through interacting with the lab liaison, research labs contribute to the literature on reproducible research practices at the group level and enable other labs in their domain to learn from their pain points and their accomplishments.

I have no idea how to write a mission statement but thought I'd take a crack at the points we want to touch on.
