Debug issues following posts

I have the plugin activated on a blog and set up the username for the profile. Searching for it from Mastodon I can find it and follow it:

Handle, profile image and description are as they should be. I can see the number of previous posts but can't see the posts themselves. Since it seems that older posts are not supposed to be seen anyway, I tried to create a new one after following the account from Mastodon, but it also doesn't appear on the blog's account or my feed. I have no idea how to debug this... =/

can you tell us a bit more about your hosting? Is it a shared hosting, who is the hosting provider, do you have firewalls or mod_sec in place?

Hey @pfefferle 👋 and thank you for your reply.

The website is hosted on hostinger.com. The server is running on RedHat 8.5 and I am pretty sure it isn't set for shared hosting. I couldn't find out about how the firewall is configured, since I don't have root access on that machine. Will try to get that information somewhere else and post back here.

I don't have access to firewall configuration, but the hosting provider informed me that it should not be conflicting with the plugin. After inspecting wordpress' debug log, I found an error related to webfinger. I suspect it might have something to do with the profile ID. Whoever created this Wordpress site used the e-mail address as user name, so ActivityPub plugin used it as ID. Since you can't have that extra "@" in the middle of the ID, AP strips it out, but I believe it creates some conflicts. I changed the ID to something different, without the "@", but in the logs the old one is still showing:
[body] => {"error":"Webfinger error when resolving associacaoprojetopresente@gmail.com@projetopresente.org.br: Request for acct:associacaoprojetopresente@gmail.com@projetopresente.org.br returned HTTP 404"}

The correct ID should now be associacao@projetopresente.org.br, but that doesn't appear on the logs.

Note 1: In the followers list from WP I can't see no one, even though there are 3 registered followers for that account.
Note 2: I created a second user in WP, followed it from a mastodon.social account, and posted from that one. The second user's followers list seems to be working fine.

Nice! It finally worked using that second user. So I guess the problem was indeed related to that ID having an extra "@" in the middle. It's not enough though, since I would like to have more users so that people could follow each author individually or all of the project's posts from the blog's profile. But it's a start!

Oh, I missed the second @ in your usernames. Yes, all the usernames has to be username@domain.tld there can't be a second @ in the username part. I am glad you found the issue!

The strange part (might be a bug?) is that I did change the profile ID right from the start. First thing I did was replacing it with a valid one on plugin settings, but that didn't work. Even though I managed to follow the account from the new ID, from the debug log I could see AP plugin was still looking for the old one with that extra @ to forward posts to subscribers. It seems to only work when changing WP's username. Is that behavior expected?
