Description
Today I had to switch to open loop without a CGM for the most of the day, and while using it I noticed a few things.
- after switching to open loop, the active TBR remained active; this might be by design, but I couldn't find an obvious way to cancel everything and go "pure open loop" (I guess starting and stopping a manual basal rate from the Pump View could do the trick)
- in open loop, the basal rate was displayed as 0 U/hr on the home screen (the correct scheduled value was displayed in the Pump View) - I had to listed for clicks to convince myself it wasn't 0 :)
- the basal rate chart was tricky to interpret (sometimes it was showing a filled area matching the scheduled rate, sometimes it was showing just the dashed line and no solid line at all), and sometimes after starting a manual TBR - it would change, and the area that was previously "dashed" became "filled";
- starting a manual TBR and then stopping it - didn't get reflected on the basal rate chart; whereas if manual TBR runs for its full duration and ends - the chart shows this correctly;
- some of the manual TBRs don't get saved into pump history (insulin activity kept going down and down below zero as if I had 0 TBR for a couple of hours, even though I ended the manual zero TBR ~15 minutes after starting it)
- because I didn't have a CGM connected, but I had a different (incompatible) CGM during this time - I was feeding the readings into iAPS manually every now and then; these readings are not included in the statistics (this also might be by design, and that's fine, but I was hoping to have at least something for the day :) )
- iAPS constantly shows the 'iAPS is inactive" notification
(this ticket turned out rather messy, just trying to recall what I was noticing during the day - I neglected to take notes)
