How to install #4753

How to install the new update #4753, without getting problems like last time, it didnt bring over the images directory.

Anything extra neeeded?

For a couple years the process to install or upgrade Allsky has been the same, which is described in detail in the "Installation -> Allsky" documentation page.
If an installation didn't move the images directory from allsky-OLD to allsky, then that's a bug that needs to be fixed.

Is your current release the one that didn't copy the images over? If so, please upload ~/allsky/config/logs/install.log and I should be able to figure out what happened.
If the prior release didn't copy the images and that release is still in ~/allsky-OLD, then please upload ~/allsky-OLD/config/logs/install.log.

Without an install log file it'll be impossible to find and fix the bug.

Going forward, if an upgrade has a problem, please before doing anything else, go to the WebUI's "Getting Support" page and follow the instructions, then upload the support log it creates to a new GitHub Discussion item.

~/allsky-OLD/config/logs/install.log

Since the filename is the same upload in two GitHub replies, and let me know the full name of each file. I will then let you know how to upgrade.

I assume I asked you to create allsky-ORIGINAL at some point in the past? If you don't need it you can remove it: cd; rm -fr allsky-ORIGINAL.

thanks for the logs.
When you installed Allsky v2024.12.06_04 on July 6 (from version v2024.12.06_02) it did not find the ~/allsky-OLD/images directory so couldn't move the images to the new release. From the install.log:

Sun  6 Jul 11:47:20 CEST 2025 * Restoring prior:
Sun  6 Jul 11:47:20 CEST 2025 *     'images' directory: NO PRIOR VERSION. This is unusual.

I checked the code that looks for the prior images directory and it's extremely unlikely it did not work correctly, so I am confident the prior images directory didn't exist when you installed v2024.12.06_04.

Did you move the images directory somewhere else prior to upgrading (some people like to put it on an SSD disk which means it's not in ~/allsky)?
Or could the ~/allsky-OLD directory have been from the release prior to v2024.12.06_02 which would no longer have the images?
Or any other reason you can think of that the prior images wouldn't be in ~/allsky-OLD?

To upgrade to the newest Allsky:

sudo systemctl stop allsky
cd
mv allsky-OLD allsky-OLDEST   # once the newest release is running fine I suggest deleting allsky-OLDEST
mv allsky allsky-OLD
git clone --depth=1 --recursive https://github.com/AllskyTeam/allsky.git
cd allsky
./install.sh

If there are ANY problems with the installation, go to the WebUI's "Getting Support" page and follow the instructions, then upload the support log it creates.

Ye the old images directory was somehow in ~/allsky-OLD/allsky.

But we moved that images dir later in the lastest version.

Just gonna use those commands you show here above.
