Max Age of Extra

Can't seem to get the value of "0" to work in MAX AGE OF EXTRA. I have a datafile refreshed every 30 minutes. I set MAX AGE OF EXTRA to 0, the extra data always show up at first, but then doesn't show again. If I set MAX AGE OF EXTRA to 1800, it shows up for several images, but still intermittently the extra data doesn't show up on an image. (I'm assuming image creation and datafile refresh cadence get out of synch some how when I specify a value.) Allsky Version: v2024.12.06_02 running on Bookworm.

I assume you're still using the legacy "Overlay Method"? That will go away in the next major release in a couple months so you may want to consider switching to the overlay method.

This will be a LOT easier to debug if you upgrade Allsky to the latest version. Then set the Debug Level to 4 and wait until you see the problem. Then go to the WebUI's "Getting Support" page and follow the instructions, then upload the support log it creates.
The support log usually contains all the info we need to debug problems.

Follow the regular instructions for an upgrade.

Oh, and after you generate the support log, click the GitHub icon:

and enter 4743 for the Github ID. THEN upload the file.

@EricClaeys maybe for the long list of potential features: to help with getting the log files numbered on the download button you could have a lightly informative continue/cancel warning if the support file still has “none” in the name?

Adding the Github number to the support file's name is primarily for the benefit of the user when they have more than one log file, so they which one goes with which issue.

Having said that, it would be nice if pressing the "Generate" button prompted the user for the number if there wasn't one. The same could happen when pressing the Download button.
For the next release I tried to do it with the Generate button but it's beyond my coding skills. @Alex-developer will need to do it.
He and I talked about having the Download button automatically upload the file to GitHub, but we haven't done anything about that yet.

I'll have a look into the as after a quick glance at the code setting it to zero should keep the file forever
