No Startrails are made by the Raspberry?

Hi friends,

at present, my AllSky system does not produce Startrails of the nights and I cannot detect any error in the settings. Did someone had same problems in the past? Version is 2024.12.06_01.

@The-J-BB, is no startrails file produced, or one is produced but the image doesn't show the stars trailing?
Create a startrails manually and see what it says: generateForDay.sh --startrails 20250620.

the files seems to be produced and also are showed in the list, but it´s only a single frame after midnight, every night. In normal, you`ll see the overlayed times and exposure data i.e....

See the Startrails Documentation page for details on how to get it working. I have never heard of anyone who wasn't able to get a good startrails image after doing what that page describes.

FYI, once you find a setting that works, you can redo prior nights' startrails using the generateForDay.sh --startrails DATE command.

Hi,

I didn’t want to start a new topic, but I’m having a similar issue. I’m attaching some files that might help with the analysis.

I also have another technical problem — when generating timelapse videos, there are stutters and heavy pixelation at the beginning of the video. After a few seconds, it clears up and plays normally. I’m not sure if it’s a performance issue with the Raspberry Pi, or something related to encoding or reading the image frames.

First off, thanks for upgrading to _05!

You did very good to read the Startrails Documentation page and run allsky-config get_brightness_info, but you missed the most important step - changing the Brightness Threshold. The purpose of that Documentation page and the command is to help you determine what the Brightness Threshold should be. I believe the page says to try setting the Threshold to the "Maximum" value, and adjust as needed.
Look at the Minimum value - that's the average brightness of the DARKEST image. It is higher than your Threshold of 0.1. Recall that the Threshold means, "ignore any image higher than this value", so the startrails command is ignoring every image since they are ALL above 0.1.
FYI, allsky-config get_brightness_info looks in the log file for previously run startrails commands. When you manually create a startrails the output goes to the terminal, not the log file, which is why you still only see one entry. When you upgrade Allsky it clears out the log file.

For the timelapse problem, please create a new Discussion item since it's unrelated to startrails and it gets confusing when one Discussion item has multiple, unrelated problems.
