WebUI does not check validity of "Locale"

At some time in the past I entered my location on the Web UI under AllSky map settings then changed it to off, I now get an error all the time "*** capture_RPi: WARNING: Could not set locale to Liverpool." I tried editing the location with the editor to "false," but to no avail. Probably something simple I'm sure.

@Fornaxtwo, did you look at the Allsky Settings page? It explains the "Locale" setting.
Most locales look like "en_GB.utf8" so I suspect "Liverpool" is not a valid locale. Not that "locale", with an "e" at the end, is different from your location.

I just created Issue #4668 to have the WebUI check if the entered locale is valid. That would have caught your problem immediately.

I followed the instructions on the AllSky settings page and installed the locale en_GB.utf8 but since I’m not installing AllSky from the beginning how do I enable it? Thanks.

I read the instructions again on the AllSky Settings page as you advised but all I can see are the instructions for installing, so what can I do without re installation? What should the format of a location look like?

run sudo raspi-config, selecting Localisation Options, followed by the Locale option. You will be shown a drop-down list with hundreds of locales; when you find the correct one for your language and country, press the SPACE bar, then TAB to the button. It will take a few seconds for the locale to be installed;

Thanks Eric, this is what I did 3 days ago, I repeated again installing en-GB.UTF-8 which all went ok, rebooted RPi and still get the same error. Question is what should I be entering in the location field on the AllSky website, what format should it take for Liverpool? I have entered "Liverpool, GB"

Enter en-GB.UTF-8 into the WebUI Locale field.
The Locale tells Linux, Windows, and iOS things like what the decimal point and thousands separators should be (period or comma), what language to use, etc. As far as I know, that information is country-specific, not city-specific.

Well I have stopped the error by setting Use Local website to "yes" and all seems to be ok.

Interesting, the Locale and Local Website are totally unrelated.

Are you saying you were getting the *** capture_RPi: WARNING: Could not set locale to Liverpool. message, then only changed Use Local Website to "yes" and the WARNING message went away?

I don’t remember changing anything else, I thought thy were related so gave it a try.
