Recommendations for setting in early evening exposures

Hello All,

In early evening I find the west sky to be some what washed out. I have the RPI HQ camera.

My setting for night imaging:

Any suggestions what to optimize??

Gert,
Are you referring to the sky that's almost white on the top right? I'm not sure if you can do anything about that without making the rest of the image too dark.

Hi Eric, good idea. Just wondering, Coming from astro-image processing I understand to avoid saturating image areas by proper stretching. Does allsky use some sort of adaptive stretch?

Gert,
The RPi HQ camera itself supports setting the contrast, saturation, and a few other things. I believe you can Google to see what algorithm the libcamera software uses.
On top of that, Allsky supports stretching by using the convert command to run -sigmoidal-contrast.
You can run man convert to get more info.
