Can we set the 'start time' of the 24hr timellapse video? #4513
-
Hello All, The way I am observing this the 24r timelapse video starts at 'sunrise'. (or is it start of dawn??). Can I change that to i.e. 12noon? I would like it better to have the time lapse 'centered' on the night observation. Just wondering if there is a setting for this. :-) Using : Version: v2024.12.06_01 Cheers, |

Allsky has a concept of "daytime" and "nighttime", and has settings that apply to each, as well as other settings that apply to any time of the day. The start of Allsky's "daytime" is based on what you enter for the Latitude, Longitude, and Angle settings in the WebUI. The The times for "daytime" and "nighttime" are relative to the sunrise and sunset times, so change every day. There currently is no way to tell Allsky to start at 12 noon, for example. The way most people use their allsky cameras, there's no need to be able to start at a specific time. I'm curious how you'd use that capability. |

Hi Eric, I can see multiple purposes for sure. There will be folks wanting to follow cloud movements during day time at a calendar date and for those 0h to 24h for a timelapse would be great. Then the stargazers who would not want an interruption of the night sky viewing in the timelapse at midnight 0h. Maybe a timelapse from 12noon to 12noon would be great. Note that the well known 'Julian date' made for astronomical time keeping has its 0-hr at midday noon! The current way of having the timelapse from dawn to dawn is surely a good compromise. Though a user control would be my favorite. I surely would vote for an enhancement to have a 'local time zone' hr to be the start time of the time lapse. I can file that in the 'Feature requests' if so suggested. Cheers, |

Gert, If someone wanted a timelapse that started at midnight and went for 24 hours, they would just need to create a file that included the names of all the images they wanted included, then specify the name of that file. No one has ever asked to be able to do that, or to use a non-changing time for daytime, although a few people have asked for the ability to have a daytime or nighttime only timelapse. When we implement that we will generalize it some to allow the user to specify any start and end time they want. I believe this would fulfill your need. |

Gert,
I created Issue #4525 for this. Thanks for suggesting it.
I'm closing this Discussion and the other one. Please review the new Issue and provide feedback.
