Mask module resolution

I try to add a mask but its unclear how do do it right.

• I have a RpiHQ cam, resolution 4056 x 3040
• My settings are to use the max resolution of the sensor (0 in the allsky settings)
• My images are saved at 2028 x 1520
• i used the mask module first in the image capturing processes (daytime and nighttime)

I tried to make a mask using a saved image, hence 2028 x 1520 and use that in the module manager.

Should i use the 2028 resulution or the 4056?
Since the mask is used before saving the image should make a mask at 4056?
If i look at the liveview or the images, they are all 2028...
Is there a way to see the mask applied? I have no clue is the mask is in the right position.

I will let @Alex-developer answer the module-related part, but the image is resized and cropped before being given to the module system, so you would want a 2028 x 1520 mask.

The capture program takes an image and saves it to the disk in allsky/tmp. It then calls scripts/saveImage.sh, passing the name of the image and data about the image like exposure, gain, etc.
saveImage.sh then optionally crops, resizes, and stretches the image. It then calls the module system to work on the image.

There are two sorts of mask

Image masks

• Your mask should be 2028 x 1520
• You will be able to see if the mask is being applied in the final image, assuming you are masking things like the lens barrel.

This is my HQ test camera with a mask applied

Meteor and Star masks

• Your mask should be 2028 x 1520
• You cannot easily see if the mask is applied, there are debug options in the various modules that will write various debug images ot the pi but these can only be access by command line - Its an advanced subject

Hello @EricClaeys , I have followed the instructions, configured the image mask module to hide borders for day and night but the pask is not applied.

I created my mask (black and white png) from one of the "live" image so it should have the right size...

What am I doing wrong?

I am using a raspi 4B with 1G and Allsky v2024.12.06_03
