A Question and Possibly a Suggestion #1227

@astrodan02. Dan, starting with the current release we now have a "dev" branch where we make changes, and the current release, whose version number is in a file called When did you have a stable version? The current release is from March 1. I believe you can get it from the link on the GitHub home page. The Wiki has information about the problems you mentioned. They could be related to lack of swap space. |

How do you activate the automatic swap file? I plan to have the allsky installation script prompt the user if they want a swap file created, based on their memory and SD card size, but if there is already a way to do it, all the better.

@EricClaeys<https://github.com/EricClaeys>
I have worked through updating my Pi. Thank you for the help.
One question on the swap file, why not activate the automatic swap file size? I did and things seem ok so far. It calculated a smaller swap file size which I assume is based on the individual's Pi memory and capacity. I rem'd out the manual fixed swap file size.

@eric I changed my time format. Can you tell me where I can 'turn off' the error message? |

@astrodan02 Dan, are you referring to the "postData.sh" message, or the message in the lighttpd error log? I don't know what's causing the lighttpd error - I've never seen it before. Do you know what you were doing at that time? |

Thank you Eric. In answer to your question on which error, postData.sh or
lighttpd, I am working with 3 separate AllSky cameras, all of which are
just slightly different, but all three are reporting the same postData.sh
error warning. Additionally, all three presently appear to be working just
fine otherwise. If this helps, I am trying to get all three working with
nearly the same exact settings. The hardware of the 3 is as follows: 1.
Raspberry Pi3b, with RPiHQ camera. 2. Raspberry Pi4, with RPiHQ camera.
3. Raspberry Pi Zero W, with Arducam 5mp OV5647 camera.
I'm going on a long trip soon, so I will wait until the next release, then
upgrade them all at one time. Right now, though, they all appear to be
working, if that helps you in your work.

For the "postData.sh" message, make sure the POST_END_OF_NIGHT_DATA
variable in config.sh is "true". If it is, refresh your browser window. If
the message goes away, that's a known but that will be fixed in the next
release. When your Allsky browser window is not the active one, it doesn't
check if the data.json file has been updated, and it should.
I don't know what's causing the lighttpd error - I've never seen it
before. Do you know what you were doing at that time?

Thank you Eric. I imagine you are correct on the swap space. I seem to
recall increasing it now that you mention it. Is there some special reason
it's not larger by default?
From the time we went to the new version updating the map, I have had some
kind of difficulty. Most of which, I think, is my having the Pi image and
act as a server. I am
constantly getting the directory addresses incorrect. I will download and
reinstall using the latest version.
Thanks again,
Dan

the one added yesterday that broke the WebUI's liveview.
At some point we will replace the current release with the dev branch and
update the version. Prior to doing that we will ask for people to test the
dev branch.

@dan, Can you provide more details on the problems you are seeing? Are you use the Pi for something other than Allsky? If so, and the other software installs its own web server, that will cause problems with the WebUI and the Allsky Website, if it's installed on the Pi. |

Uh oh!
There was an error while loading. Please reload this page.

Is there any place where 'Stable' vs 'Nightly' versions of the software exist? If so, can someone please post the links.
Also, is there a version number for the current release?
I am having a lot of trouble with my later compiles of the software and getting the settings correct. I am using the RPiHQ camera and trying to serve on the Pi. Sometimes I get it write and the site shows the current image, but no keograms or startrails. Sometimes I have no timelapse but have keograms and startrails. I would just like to go backwards to when I had a stable loaded version.
I am also having trouble getting HTTPS now. ???
Thanks for any help or comment,
Dan
